THe Grind of A Notary Public

All Clients Are Not Created Equal

As a mobile Notary one of the biggest challenges when starting a business is setting a mobile travel fee, after all this is partly how a Notary gets paid. When I first started my business I was encouraged to charge a standard flat fee, one that woiuld cover my time and travel.   Most often when a new client calls, they ask, "are you a Notary, where are you located"? I then have to explain that I am a "mobile" Notary which means I offer the convenience of traveling to you. My travel fee most often would scare them away, so they will say "thank you", hang up and try to find a Notary in their surrounding area or roll the dice in hopefully finding someone cheaper.

The
fact of the matter is that everyone cannot always afford your fees. With over 20 years of customer service experience in the financial industry I have spent lot of time learning and working with a diverse clientele. I have found great success in making some fee adjustments.   If you live within a certain proximity, I set my fee accordingly. If I am servicing someone who is located under a mile from where I am located, I will charge this client a much lower fee then someone who is located more than 3 miles away.  I also take the time of day into consideration as well.

As an extra thank you, I leave them with a small gift as a token of my appreciation and it serves as a reminder to call on me again which has given me many repeat customers and referrals.
