How do I apply for a marriage License in New York?
Go online to http://www.cityclerk.nyc.gov/html/marriage/marriage_bureau.shtml
Do I need to provide ID when applying for a Marriage License?
You and your prospective spouse must have one form of proper identification in order to apply for a Marriage license.
The following is a list of acceptable identification
If you do not possess any of the abovementioned Identification, you may contact the City Clerk's office.
How old must I be to get married?
If either you or your prospective spouse is under the age of 18 years, you are required to have written parental consent to obtain a Marriage License.
"Is my marriage legal and recognized in other States and Countries?"
Yes, it is recognized throughout the United States as well as all foreign countries. But if you are not a US citizen, you should contact your country's consulate to see if you should have your Wedding Certificate notarized.
Do I have to be a resident of the state of New York to get married there?
No. There are no residence or citizenship requirements to be married in New York.
What if I've been divorced, can I still get married?
Do I need to take a blood test?
A blood test is not required to obtain a Marriage License in the State of New York.

- "Yes" If you were married before, you must list all prior marriages. You must include your previous spouse's full name; the date the divorce decree was granted; and the city, state, and country where the divorce was issued.
- All divorces, annulments, and dissolutions must be finalized before you apply for a new Marriage License.
- You may be asked to produce the final divorce decree.
- If your spouse is deceased, you must provide such spouse's full name and date of death.
